Job summary

Acadian Ambulance Service in Lafayette, LA is seeking an EMT-Basic to provide essential pre-hospital basic life support and timely patient transport according to Acadian standards. The role includes patient assessment, basic life support administration, safe transfer of patient information, and maintaining vehicle and equipment readiness.

Applicants must be enrolled in an EMT course, have a high school diploma or GED, obtain state EMT certification, CPR, and a valid Louisiana driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in EMT course.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • National and/or State EMT certification.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid state driver’s license (LA Class D).
  • Ability to read, write and communicate professionally with staff and managers.
  • Knowledge of company protocols and safety policies.
  • Ability to drive large vehicles in normal and adverse conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic life support and transportation of patients.
  • Examine patient, administer BLS within licensure/certification.
  • Handle patient carefully during loading/unloading and transport.
  • Transfer patient information to receiving personnel.
  • Document patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
  • Maintain and test ambulance equipment and inventory.
  • Operate the ambulance safely as per guidelines.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and complete duties as assigned.
  • Assist EMT-Basic students and new employees as directed.
