VEG is seeking a part-time Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ER team in San Jose. You will support the team, comfort pet parents, and learn the ropes from day one as you triage, assist with treatments, and help ensure timely care.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus
• 1+ years in veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus)
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and equipment
• Stand for long hours; lift up to 25 kg (40 kg with assistance)
• Willing to work nights, weekends, holidays on rotating basis
• Able to work in noisy environment with strong odors

Aufgaben

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics (bloodwork, imaging)
• Help set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation with veterinarians
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medications
• Support care in outpatient or inpatient settings, from exam to treatment area
• Join patient rounds to maintain continuity of care
• Learn CPR and RECOVER Certified Rescuer training (provided)
• Grow into advanced roles such as anesthesia support and ultrasound
