Job summary

The Town of Fort Myers Beach is seeking an Emergency Services Ranger (Part-Time, 30 hours per week) to patrol and protect the island, enforce local codes, and provide first aid in emergencies. The role reports to the Emergency Services Director and requires ICS/NIMS training and a Florida Driver's License.

Essential duties include proactive patrols, detailed incident reporting, traffic control, and collaboration with law enforcement during emergencies. Weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications

• Education, Certification, and Experience: High school diploma/GED; and five (5) years of community, public safety or customer service-related experience.
• FEMA ICS and NIMS Training: IS-100.C, IS-200.C, IS-700.B, IS-800 in good standing or ability to obtain certification within 3 months of hire.
• Parking Enforcement Specialist in the State of Florida Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment and maintain that certification.
• Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Patrol all areas within the Town's jurisdiction from bay to beach to promote public safety and enforce Town Code.
• Document areas of concern with detailed incident reports for follow-up.
• Provide a highly visible presence to educate the public and deter improper activity.
• Serve as a traffic control officer to maintain safe traffic flow and respond to disruptions.
• Provide basic first aid and assist in emergencies until relieved by EMS or law enforcement.
• Coordinate with authorities on suspicious activity and secure crime scenes when needed.
• Perform basic de-escalation techniques and support public safety.
• Assist in emergency deployments, scene control, and crowd management at events.

Education

High school diploma/GED

Five years of community/public safety/customer service experience
