Job summary

City of Wauwatosa is seeking a part-time Dispatcher to handle emergency and non-emergency calls, prioritizing incidents and guiding responders. You will manage radio communications, verify jurisdiction, and ensure accurate information flow to police, fire, and medical units.

The role requires flexibility for weekends/holidays and all three shifts. Prior dispatch experience and strong customer service are valued, with competitive pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and dispatcher experience preferred.
• Priority Dispatch EMD Certification and CPR preferred or obtainable before completing training.
• Strong communication, problem solving, and multitasking abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Responds promptly to emergency operations by receiving and assessing calls to determine emergency level and jurisdiction.
• Interviews callers to determine required response and information.
• Provides post-dispatch and pre-arrival instructions based on protocols.
• Transfers callers and coordinates resources to incidents.
• Monitors and coordinates radio frequencies and supports field units as needed.
