Job summary

The City of Wauwatosa is seeking a part-time Dispatcher to handle emergency and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire, and Medical Services. The role includes prioritizing calls, providing pre-arrival instructions, and coordinating with multiple agencies.

The position requires flexibility across all three shifts, with a minimum 20 hours per month and holiday commitments. Starting pay ranges from $31.16 to $34.62 per hour, with potential increases to $39.81 in 2026 based on performance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of dispatcher or admin/customer service experience preferred.
• Priority Dispatch EMD Certification and CPR Certification preferred or must be obtained before training completes.

Responsibilities

• Responds promptly to emergency operations by receiving and assessing incoming calls to determine emergency level.
• Effectively interviews calls to determine required response.
• Assesses medical calls and provides post-dispatch and pre-arrival instructions per Priority Dispatch System.
• Dispatches appropriate City assets and coordinates resources for incidents.
• Monitors multiple radio frequencies and informs police and fire personnel of activity.
• Maintains and updates CAD incident summaries and logs.
