Job summary

The Georgia Forestry Commission is seeking several part-time Dispatchers to serve as the safety line for wildland firefighters in Macon, GA. You will manage dispatch of equipment and personnel, handle permit requests, and route inquiries during the midnight shift.

This role offers OJT pay of $13.50/hr, increasing to $15.50/hr after training, with part-time hours that accommodate school schedules and other commitments.

Qualifications

• Experience dispatching wildland fire equipment and personnel.
• Ability to handle multiple phone calls and exercise good judgment.
• Typing skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Dispatching wildland fire equipment and personnel to wildfires and other emergencies.
• Receiving and processing burn permit requests.
• Dispatching appropriate personnel to investigate smoke complaints.
• Answering general requests for information and other services, or connecting the customer to the right person.
