Job summary

The Georgia Forestry Commission seeks a Wildland Firefighter/Ranger to join the Worth County unit in Sylvester, GA. You will participate in active fire suppression, prevention, and related forestry services within a fast-paced, team-based environment.

Requirements include a Class A CDL learner's permit with ability to obtain a CDL within 12 weeks, plus successful completion of background, medical, and fitness checks. Eligible for strong benefits and public service impact.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Class A CDL learner's permit and the ability to obtain a CDL within 12 weeks.
  • Pass pre-employment process including background investigation, medical evaluations, and physical fitness tests.
  • Must live and/or relocate within 45 minutes of the Worth County unit in Sylvester, GA.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with maintaining facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Operates firefighting equipment to suppress and prevent wildfires.
  • Responds to fire calls and emergencies as part of a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Participates in fire prevention campaigns and public safety outreach.
  • Relocates within the service area to fulfill assignments.
