Job summary

The Salvation Army in Saint Joseph, MO is seeking a part-time caseworker aide to interview, evaluate and assist individuals with emergency needs. You will screen calls, pre-qualify requests, make referrals, and help clients complete applications while keeping thorough records.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, at least two years of college in Human Services (bachelor’s preferred), and completion of the Caseworker Certification within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma; a minimum of two years of college in Human Services; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Two years of experience working with low income and minority populations.
• Must complete The Salvation Army’s Caseworker Certification Program within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls and visitors and screen for emergency assistance needs.
• Pre-qualify and verify information to determine eligibility for emergency assistance.
• Make referrals to other agencies according to guidelines of The Salvation Army.
• Assist clients with completing applications for emergency assistance and related programs.
• Maintain accurate funds tracking and documentation for emergency assistance accounts.
