Job summary

The Salvation Army in Grandview, Missouri is seeking a part-time Case Worker – Emergency Assistance to interview, evaluate, and administer aid for clients with emergency needs.

Responsibilities include screening applicants, qualifying requests, referrals to other agencies, and managing funds with regular reporting. Candidates should complete the required Caseworker Certification within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma; two years of college in Human Services, bachelor’s preferred.
• Two years’ experience working with low income and minority populations.
• Must complete The Salvation Army’s Caseworker Certification Program within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Interview, evaluate and administer emergency assistance to clients.
• Screen callers/visitors for immediate needs and eligibility.
• Pre-qualify requests and verify information via interviews and third-party sources.
• Make referrals to other agencies per Salvation Army guidelines.
• Assist clients with applications for emergency assistance, USDA programs, etc.
• Track funds in spreadsheets and input into MAAC Link.
• Prepare EFSP files and submit monthly transaction reports.
• Forge professional relationships with community agencies.
• Coordinate with POH case manager and refer clients to POH.
• Travel to meetings and conferences as required; work in typical office setting.
