Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time caseworker to interview, evaluate, and assist clients seeking emergency aid. You will screen callers, help complete applications, and coordinate referrals with partner agencies to support self-sufficiency.

You will maintain financial records and assist in FEMA filings, while ensuring accurate data entry into the TSA systems. A strong, compassionate communicator is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma; two years of college in Human Services; bachelor's preferred.
• Two years of experience with low income and minority populations.
• Must complete The Salvation Army’s Caseworker Certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls and visitors to The Salvation Army.
• Screen potential clients for immediate emergency assistance needs.
• Pre-qualify requests for emergency assistance through appointments, interviews, and verifications.
• Make referrals to other agencies per TSA guidelines.
• Assist clients in completing applications for emergency assistance and related programs.
• Maintain spreadsheets tracking funds and input into MAAC Link.
• Prepare FEMA files for submission and keep copies of documentation.
• Submit monthly reports of emergency assistance transactions to the Corps Officer.
