Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time caseworker to assist clients in obtaining emergency assistance and related services. You will interview, evaluate, and document needs, pre-qualify requests, and refer clients to appropriate programs while maintaining documentation and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Corps Officer and community partners, and supporting outreach activities. A compassionate, detail-oriented professional will thrive in this role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required, and two years of college in Human Services; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Two years’ experience working with low income and minority populations.
• Must complete The Salvation Army Caseworker Certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls and visitors to The Salvation Army site.
• Screen potential clients for immediate emergency assistance needs.
• Pre-qualify requests and determine eligibility through appointments, interviews, and source checks.
• Make referrals to other agencies following Salvation Army guidelines.
• Assist clients in completing applications for emergency assistance and related programs.
• Maintain funds tracking in spreadsheets and input into MAAC Link.
• Prepare EFSP files for annual submission with documentation backups.
• Submit monthly emergency assistance transaction reports to the Corps Officer.
