Job summary

Rochester Community Schools is seeking a Part-Time General Education/Noon Recess Building Paraeducator to support students and teachers at Hampton Elementary. The role is 5.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, aligned with the 2026-2027 school calendar.

The paraeducator will assist with academic support, classroom activities, tests, and materials organization, while promoting a positive, inclusive classroom environment and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associate/Bachelor’s preferred.
• Two years of higher education or an Associate degree acceptable.
• Experience providing students with academic support is desirable.
• Experience tutoring elementary students preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills with students, families and staff.
• Ability to work independently and show initiative.
• Demonstrates competence in math and literacy.
• Excellent command of English, written and spoken.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel preferred.
• Board may consider equivalent alternatives.

Responsibilities

• Assists in planning and implementing academic support for the Learning Consultant Program students.
• Helps students understand assignments or assists with projects/research as directed by the classroom teacher/Learning Consultant.
• Assists in administering appropriate tests to the students in the Learning Consultant Program or as assigned by the Learning Consultant.
• Maintains records of activities such as daily logs for every student, assignment sheets, and attendance records of the students assigned.
• Operate office and instructional equipment.
• Orders materials for classroom use, such as texts, tests, and math supplies as directed by Learning Consultant/Principal.
• Inventories, distributes, and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction in the classroom.
• Conducts learning exercises with group of children.
• Monitors students’ classroom testing results and correlates that information to the planning for the students.
• Operate appropriate equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes, including copiers, computers/video conferencing, and media devices.
• Attends parent/teacher or teacher/student conferences when requested by the Learning Consultant.
• Under supervision, support medication dispensation per district nurse’s plan.
• Performs other duties as assigned by District.
