Job summary

Los Alamitos Unified School District is seeking a part-time EL paraeducator to assist certificated staff in language development instruction for non- or limited-English speaking students. You will support small groups, monitor behavior, and perform clerical duties related to instructional activities.

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and two years of youth experience; bilingual skills and familiarity with EL programs are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or Certificate of Completion required.
• Two years of experience working with youth in an organized setting required.
• Experience with EL students or language development support is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide language development instruction to individual or small groups.
• Provide tutorial assistance to students regarding regular classroom instruction.
• Prepare and administer tests, score papers, and maintain records.
• Monitor student behavior and report progress to the teacher.
• Assist with clerical duties and instructional material setup.
• Support teachers by operating audio-visual equipment and other educational tech.
• Confer with teachers to tailor programs and materials for EL students.
• Direct activities of students as assigned and participate in staff trainings.
