Job summary

The Children’s Museum of Richmond is seeking an Educator to deliver educational programs and engage families through play, field trips, and community events. This part-time, as-needed role focuses on morning weekday support and hands-on learning experiences.

Ideal candidates will have a background in education, knowledge of Virginia SOLs and Early Learning Standards, and the ability to pass a background check. A valid driver’s license and physical stamina are also important requirements.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have a background in education and be comfortable teaching children using diverse methods.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a desire to contribute to the museum's mission.
  • Knowledge of Virginia SOLs and Virginia Early Learning and Development Standards is preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background check and maintain a valid unrestricted driver’s license.
  • Position requires walking, standing, heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasional use of tools.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver educational and engaging programs on predetermined topics through floor programming and school field trips.
  • Facilitate participation at community events and offsite locations as needed.
  • Maintain safety and a positive learning environment for visitors of varied ages and backgrounds.

Job description

The Children’s Museum of Richmond is searching for an Educator to help us achieve our mission of inspiring growth in all children by engaging families in learning through play! This is a part time as needed position for weekday morning field trip support.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities: The Educator is responsible for delivering educational and engaging programs on a variety of pre-determined topics through facilitation of floor programming, school field trips, and additional education activities at community events and/or offsite locations.

Required Qualifications:

Competencies: Candidates should have a demonstrable passion for the mission and work of the Museum and a strong desire to make a difference in their community. Candidates should have a strong interest in continuous learning and using new ways to teach; candidates should be comfortable teaching children with diverse backgrounds and education levels. Successful candidates will be organized and proactive with strong collaboration skills.

Skills and Abilities: Candidates should have a background in education and a practical knowledge of teaching in a variety of modes and methods and familiarity with the elementary level of Virginia SOL’s and Virginia Early Learning and Development Standards. Candidates should have a valid unrestricted driver’s license with clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check. This position requires extensive walking, standing, heavy lifting up to fifty pounds, and occasional use of tools.

$20.00 – $22.00 / hour
