Job summary

Prairie Valley School Division in Kelliher invites applications for the Educational Assistant I. This temporary part-time position supports students in K-8 programming at Kelliher School, with duties ranging from personal care to academic assistance as directed by teachers.

We seek individuals with Grade 12 or equivalent and coursework in educational assistance, first aid and crisis intervention. The role emphasizes collaboration with the school team, confidentiality, and the ability to lift up

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent required.
• Educational Assistant certificate or diploma pursued or completed.
• First Aid, CPR and AED training preferred.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training desired.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to students to maintain their dignity and promote independence.
• Assist and coach students to develop daily living skills.
• Work under the direction of the administrator, classroom teacher and student services teacher to promote engagement and provide academic support.
• Document progress on targeted goals and participate in conferences as requested.
• Promote positive behaviour interventions and supports in line with Safety Plans.
• Collaborate with student teams to ensure learning in the least restrictive environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the School Administrator.
