JOB SUMMARY: Support the teacher in creating a safe, organized and engaging learning environment for students. Assist with preparing materials for the classroom, reinforcing learning concepts, provide additional supervision for students and offer individualized support where needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to support and reinforce learning with students either one on one or in small group settings
• Ability to assist in classroom to support learning, assist with understanding and provide additional assistance to students when needed
• Supervise students during non-classroom time such as lunch, arrival, dismissal, and in the hallways to ensure safety.
• Support and promote the philosophy of Catholic education and contribute to building a spirit of unity within the school and the Cedar Valley Catholic Schools System
• Comply with rules and objectives of the school, Cedar Valley Catholic Schools and the Archdiocese of Dubuque
• Promote positive public relations with staff, parents and the public in all daily contacts, including phone conversations and school visits
• Monitor, observe and support student behaviors in accordance with approved policies and procedures
• Ability to develop rapport and interact effectively with students.
• Ability to interact and collaborate with staff, students and families in a professional manner.
• Ability to support and reinforce learning with students either one on one or in small group settings.

These duties are not all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Lifts and moves items up to 20 pounds.
