Job summary

Northfield Public Schools seeks Substitute Educational Assistants to support teachers and students on an as-needed basis across district sites. You will help with lesson preparation, classroom tasks, and general supervision to maintain a safe, positive learning environment.

The role is on-call with varied schedules; candidates should be flexible, able to follow directions, work well in a team, and communicate clearly with staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience working with children in an educational setting preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations and schedules.
• Ability to follow directions and work independently.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to teachers in the classroom, including helping with lesson preparation, grading, and classroom management
• Assist students with classroom assignments and activities, including reading, writing, and math
• Monitor student behavior and ensure a safe and positive learning environment
• Help with classroom organization and maintenance, including cleaning and organizing materials and supplies
• Assist with special education programs and support students with disabilities
• Communicate with teachers and staff regarding student progress and any concerns or issues that arise
