Tutors foster an inclusive environment, greet students, review policies, attend trainings, mentor new tutors, and ensure compliance with Center procedures. GPA 3.0 and submission of required documents are sought.

Qualifications

• Overall GPA must be 3.0 or higher.
• Grades of B or higher in tutored courses.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and learning needs.
• Patience and interest in helping students succeed.
• Strong grasp of economics concepts.

Responsibilities

• The Office of Undergraduate Education tutors will serve as learning assistants for Econ in an open tutoring center format.
• Tutors help students find their own answers and learn problem-solving methods to solve problems independently.
• Support is structured to reinforce course material and build student capacity for future courses.
• Create an inclusive learning environment, greet students, and explain center functions to new students.
• Review the Employee Handbook, attend pedagogical trainings, mentor new tutors and ensure compliance with center procedures.
