Job summary

UC Merced's Economics & Business Management unit seeks Learning Assistant/Tutor for Fall 2026 and/or Spring 2027 to support ECON 001 and other courses. The position focuses on quantitative literacy, assisting groups, and serving as a bridge between students and faculty.

Ideal candidates are undergraduates who have completed the course with B or higher, maintain a 3.0+ GPA, and possess strong verbal and written communication. Training through CTL and weekly instructor meetings are provided.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at UC Merced
• Has completed the course assigned and earned a B or higher
• GPA 3.0 or higher
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Preferred: tutoring or mentoring experience
• Preferred: interested in pursuing a teaching career

Responsibilities

• Facilitate discussion with groups of students in lecture by asking questions to help students learn materials
• Attend weekly meetings with course instructor and teaching assistants
• Participate in trainings and a teaching seminar course offered by the Center for Teaching and Learning

Skills
