Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago in Palatine, IL is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support the Lead Teacher in delivering developmentally appropriate activities for children ages 2-5. You will help manage the classroom, assist with lesson planning, and reinforce positive behavior while adhering to DCFS and ExceleRate Illinois standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with at least 6 college credits in Early Childhood Education.
• ECE CDA or Gateways Level 2 credential preferred.
• Prior experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and models high quality teaching and learning in the classroom.
• Maintain supervision of children and ensure safety at all times.
• Assist with lesson planning and development of engaging activities.
• Collaborate with Lead Teacher to implement curriculum ( Creative Curriculum ).
• Collect and use observational data to inform instruction.
• Support partnerships with families and encourage parent involvement.
• Support recruitment, enrollment, attendance and retention efforts as needed.
