Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Toledo is hiring a Part-Time Early Childhood Child Care Assistant Teacher to support our youngest learners. You will assist the Lead Teacher, follow lesson plans, and help with daily routines for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

This role offers a pay of $13.00–$14.50 per hour, YMCA membership perks, retirement options, and paid time off. Shift hours are flexible, typically 15–35 hours per week, with opportunities to grow within a caring, community-focused program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Understanding of children, their behavior and developmentally appropriate practices.
• CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and Prevention of Infectious Diseases training (YMCA covers).
• Warm, friendly personality and willingness to interact with children.
• Meet DCY licensing qualifications in training and background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in implementing lesson plans and daily classroom schedule.
• Provide daily care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
• Move around the classroom and supervise actively.
• Build relationships with students and their families.
• Play, sing, and help kids build friendships and good behavior.
• Serve snacks and lunches; light cleaning to keep space inviting.
• Shift hours are typically 15–35 hours per week depending on availability.
