Job summary

Sheltering Arms is seeking a Teacher Aide to support a teaching team across infant to Pre-K groups. You will promote healthy habits, assist with daily routines, and maintain safe, clean environments while engaging children through structured activities.

You’ll collaborate with lead teachers, help implement lesson plans, and communicate with families. Candidates should have a high school diploma/GED and prefer some ECE experience, with CDA or BA/BS options encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED with 2+ years of Early Childhood Education experience preferred.
• CDA enrollment within 12 mos. of hire.
• HS diploma/GED with course credits or 60+ hours toward a BA/BS, or Completed BA/BS.

Responsibilities

• Promote healthy eating by eating with children.
• Share routine duties with staff (supervision on playground, toileting, cleanup, etc.).
• Assist in keeping room and other areas neat and clean.
• Interact with children during activities they are supervising.
• Perform appropriate hand washing and sanitizing procedures.
• Participate in child/teacher-initiated activities.
• Use equipment/materials to promote physical development.
• Implement planned activities.
• Engage children in learning activities outdoors.
• Ensure materials are prepared in advance of activities.
• Follow Active Supervision policies to ensure safety.
• Facilitate hands-on activities that develop self-esteem and social skills.
• Demonstrate awareness of cultural diversity while interacting with children.
• Use positive guidance techniques and strategies.
• Provide access to a wide variety of creative/expressive activities.
• Greet children upon arrival and departure.
• Show each child affection and attention daily.
• Encourage children to problem solve and discuss feelings.

Education

High school diploma/GED with 2+ years of ECE experience
