Job summary

Texas A&M University-San Antonio is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher Aide II to assist the lead teacher in implementing the daily preschool program at our San Antonio campus.

The role involves preparing learning areas, supporting play-based learning, supervising students, and helping with classroom operations while maintaining professional, respectful interactions with children, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with children in a childcare setting preferred.
• Two years of education from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the assigned teacher.
• Assists with planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies.
• Supervises the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.
• Helps with general housekeeping and kitchen tasks.
• Maintains professional attitudes and loyalty to the school.
• Attends staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
• Maintains confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside the school.
• Active engagement with early childhood students through interactions and play.
• Assists teacher in maintaining discipline and supervision of students; uses appropriate guidance strategies.
• Works with staff and parents to address holistic child needs.
