Job summary

Sequatchie Valley Educational Development Agency is seeking a dedicated teacher aide to support classroom activities and deliver a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children in the program.

The position is typically 20–25 hours per week, with potential to act as assistant teacher while pursuing a CDA within 24 months or an Early Childhood degree, as described in Head Start guidance. Strong teamwork and reliable, caring interactions are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year paid or volunteer experience with young children preferred.
• Pursue CDA credentials or ECE coursework encouraged.
• Must pass DHS fingerprinting process and background check.
• Pre-employment drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering a well-planned curriculum for children.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized classroom environment.
• Support teachers with lesson plans and individualization tasks.
• Provide encouragement and model positive behavior for children.
• Communicate with children, families, and staff while maintaining confidentiality.
