Job summary

Kahak Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Norfolk, VA for part-time hours (Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm). The DSP will provide direct care and support to individuals with IDD or behavioral health needs, focusing on independence, daily living skills, and community participation.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass a background check, driving record check, and drug screening.
Ability to lift, transfer, or assist individuals up to 50 lbs (with or without accommodations).
Must have strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care and support for individuals with IDD or behavioral health needs.
Assist with personal care, daily living activities, and safety.
Support community engagement and transportation to appointments and activities.
Document daily progress notes, shift summaries, and incident reports.
Follow care plans, de-escalation strategies, and HIPAA guidelines.
