Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP). You will build meaningful relationships while supporting daily living activities, advocating for rights, and promoting independence in a residential setting for up to 4 people with identified needs.

Training is provided, and a driver’s license is preferred for community participation. Competitive hourly pay starts at $16.00 with potential raise to $16.50 after six months, plus a $1500 hiring bonus.

Qualifications

• No prior experience or formal education required; training provided.
• Must have a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Comfort with basic computer use to document care.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal care, hygiene, meals, household tasks and transportation.
• Support community involvement and independent living skills.
• Advocate for people with identified needs’ rights, needs, and preferences.
• Monitor health and well-being and report changes as needed.
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings.
• Residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs.

Pay:

• $16.00/hr!
• Upon completion of six months of consistent employment, there is an opportunity to obtain a wage increase to $16.50/hr!
• $1500 Hiring Bonus*

Shifts:

• SS 8am-9pm, F 345-9, F 4-10

What You’ll Do:

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills
• Advocate for people with identified needs’ rights, needs, and preferences
• Monitor health and well‑being and report changes as needed
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings
• Residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs
