Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking Direct Support Professionals to work in homes serving individuals with higher health and support needs. The role emphasizes person-centered care, building relationships, and assisting with daily living activities in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Pay starts at $17/hr with a potential raise to $17.50/hr after six months and includes a $1500 hiring bonus.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; training provided.
• Comfort with basic computer use to document care and stay connected with the team.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal care, hygiene, meals, and transportation.
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills.
• Advocate for rights, needs, and preferences of people served.
• Monitor health and report changes; document and participate in training and meetings.
• Work in a residential group home supporting up to 4 people.

Advanced DSP: Afternoon Shifts-$1500 Hiring Bonus

Looking for a job where you can make a real difference every day? As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at LSS, you’ll support people with identified needs as they pursue their hopes, dreams, and goals through person‑centered care.

An advanced DSP works in homes that support individuals who have higher health and support needs. Team members are trained to utilize medical equipment such as a nebulizers. oxygen, hoyer lift/track system and sit to stand as well as seizure disorders and protocols to follow. The individuals need full support in activities of daily living.

Pay:

• $17/hr!


• Upon completion of six months of consistent employment, there is an opportunity to obtain a wage increase to $17.50/hr!

• T 3-10, W 3-9, S/S 3-10

What You’ll Do:

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support


• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation


• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills


• Advocate for people with identified needs’ rights, needs, and preferences


• Monitor health and well‑being and report changes as needed


• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings


• Residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs
