Job summary

The State of South Carolina’s SC Commission for the Blind (SCCB) is seeking a dependable Part-Time Driver to support blind and visually impaired individuals in Florence and at the Columbia District Office. The role focuses on safe, timely transportation and compassionate customer service for program-related trips.

The ideal candidate will have a valid SC driver's license, at least one year of driving experience, and proficiency with GPS devices.

Qualifications

Possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license with a clean driving record.
At least 1 year of driving experience.
Proficiency using GPS device.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; teamwork.

Responsibilities

Safely transport SCCB consumers to and from low vision clinics, SCCB-related appointments, and other approved program destinations.
Provide professional, respectful assistance to consumers during pick-up and drop-off.
Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and required documentation.
Communicate effectively with SCCB staff regarding schedules, delays, or concerns.
Operate SCCB vehicles in compliance with state policies, traffic laws, and safety procedures.
Conduct basic vehicle checks (fuel level, cleanliness, safety readiness) and report maintenance needs promptly.
Protect consumer confidentiality in accordance with SCCB policies and applicable regulations.
