Job summary

SC Commission for the Blind (SCCB) in South Carolina seeks a reliable Part-Time Driver to support blind and visually impaired consumers in the Conway area and to and from the Columbia District Office. The role focuses on safe, courteous transportation and adherence to schedules while protecting consumer confidentiality.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of driving experience, a valid SC driver's license with a clean record, and proficiency with GPS devices.

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• At least 1 year of driving experience is preferred.
• Proficiency using GPS device is required.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport SCCB consumers to and from low vision clinics, SCCB-related appointments and other approved destinations.
• Provide professional, respectful assistance to consumers during pick-up and drop-off.
• Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and required documentation.
• Communicate effectively with SCCB staff regarding schedules, delays, or concerns.
• Operate SCCB vehicles in compliance with state policies, traffic laws, and safety procedures.
• Conduct basic vehicle checks and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Protect consumer confidentiality in accordance with SCCB policies.
