Job summary

The Co-op Group is recruiting a Funeral Service Crew member to help families say goodbye with professionalism, dignity and care. The role is part-time (30 hours/week) with 4 days minimum and weekend on-call duties, based in Irvine and Ayr.

Full training is provided, and you will work across branches with supportive teams. You'll handle preparation, transportation and care of the deceased, with emphasis on empathy, safety and accuracy, while benefiting from a competitive salary and a strong

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence required.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting.
• Good IT skills and comfortable with devices.
• Calm, compassionate approach to customers during emotional circumstances.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities

• Collect deceased from locations in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Bear coffins on funeral day and drive funeral vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral.
• Maintain client management records with timely information.
• Carry out lifting using safe techniques and equipment.
