Job summary

JOURNEYS | The Road Home in Palatine, IL is seeking a part-time Driver - Facility Technician to help with daily operations and client services. You will transport people and donations in our shuttle vehicles, perform light maintenance, and support a safe, welcoming environment for individuals experiencing homelessness.

The role requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift 40+ pounds, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record; able to pass a supervisor driving test.
• Comfort driving an 8- to 12-passenger van or small bus.
• Ability to lift and move 40+ pounds.
• Ability to follow instructions and stay on schedule.
• Strong verbal communication skills in a team setting.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Part-time schedule 10:00 am–4:00 pm, Monday–Friday.
• Transport people and donations in our van or minivan; no special license required.
• Perform general repairs and facility maintenance around the building.
• Interact respectfully with clients and staff; assist as needed.
• Take on additional tasks to help keep daily operations running smoothly.
