Job summary

City of Reading, PA is hiring a Downtown Ambassador to help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for visitors and residents. You will perform daily cleaning, interact respectfully with the community, and support downtown upkeep.

Typical duties include trash and snow removal, sidewalk cleaning, litter pickup, maintaining bus shelters, assisting with events, and reporting incidents. A valid PA driver’s license and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must possess a valid PA driver’s license.
• Previous experience performing manual work.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations to keep downtown clean and safe.
• Perform trash, leaves, snow, and ice removal across designated areas.
• Pressure wash sidewalks and maintain cleanliness.
• Remove litter from planters, tree pits, and stairwells.
• Ensure bus shelters are clean and free of litter.
• Empty and maintain trash receptacles throughout the area.
• Engage with local businesses to address concerns and promote cleanliness.
• Assist with event preparation and cleanup.
• Provide Human Services outreach to those in need within the community.
• Complete weekly activity reports using Microsoft.
• Attend community meetings as requested by the supervisor.
• Collaborate on problem-solving when issues arise.
• Regularly assess city property to ensure they are operational.
