Job summary

The Downtown Seattle Association (DSA) is seeking a part-time or full-time Downtown Ambassador to join the Public Realm Operations team. You will help maintain inviting public spaces, assist with events, and ensure safe, clean downtown environments.

As a MID Supervisor reports role, you will support daily setup, crowd management, and data collection to improve city spaces. The role is outdoors, requires ability to lift 50 pounds, and offers an hourly wage of $22.00–$27.00 with a comprehensive

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that parks and public spaces can be set up for success each day, including setup/breakdown of equipment and proper disposal of waste.
  • Set up and breakdown of daily amenities and activities in public spaces.
  • Provide event and programming support for public realm events from setup to breakdown.
  • Deliver high levels of service to customers, ratepayers, and stakeholders, including ticket taking and stocking.
  • Reference calendars and guidance to perform duties accurately.
  • Assist with monitoring and reporting public realm art and beautification priorities.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on public realm amenities.
  • Observe, track and report data on public assets daily.
  • Conduct data collection and documentation to support Ambassador operations.
  • Address items of physical public disorder or coordinate with Clean Team as needed.
  • Use devices to collect data and track daily activities in public right-of-way and DSA spaces.
  • Represent MID/DSA at special events in a positive and professional manner.

Compensation

DSA is committed to internal and market equity. The hourly range for this position is $22.00-$27.00. Salary is determined based on internal and market equity, internal and market data/salary ranges, and the applicant’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We will hire at the beginning of the salary range to allow future salary growth based on an employee's performance, professional development, and increases in responsibilities and duties. Downtown Seattle Association provides a comprehensive benefits package including but not restricted to:

Requirements
Duties and Tasks
  • Ensure that parks and public spaces can be set up for success each day, this may include loading/unloading delivery trucks, clearing areas of obstacles/interruptions, transporting trash and waste to proper disposal area, keeping inventory/stocking/replenishing supplies, signage, etc.
  • Set up and breakdown of daily amenities (furniture, amenities, signage, misc. equipment, etc.) and activities in public spaces.
  • Provide event and programming support for all public realm events to include set-up, staffing during events and breakdown.
  • Perform a high level of service to customers, ratepayers, and stakeholders including ticket taking, and stocking.
  • Reference paper and electronic calendars and programs to guide set-up and instructions to carry out job duties.
  • Assist with monitoring, tracking, and reporting public realm art and beautification priorities.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks on public realm amenities.
  • Observe, track and report data on public assets daily.
  • Conduct various data collection and documentation to support Ambassador program operations.
  • Address items of physical public disorder like fallen scooters, misplaced signs, and large debris, or work with Clean Team to address in a timely manner.
  • Utilize computer and hand-held mobile device to collect data and track daily work activities in the public right-of-way and DSA-managed parks and public spaces.
  • Represent MID/DSA at special events in a positive and professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work Environment - Work outdoors for the entirety of each shift in all weather conditions, with exposure to potentially hazardous waste/substances.

Physical Demands – Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
