Job summary

City-of-Reading is seeking a Downtown Ambassador Specialist in Reading, PA to keep downtown clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors, residents, and workers.

You will perform daily cleaning, trash removal, sidewalk maintenance, report incidents, assist with events, and engage with local businesses while providing humane outreach to those in need. This full-time role requires a high school diploma and a valid PA driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must possess a valid PA driver's license.
• Previous experience performing manual work.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations to ensure a clean and safe downtown environment.
• Perform trash, leaves, snow, and ice removal across designated areas.
• Pressure wash sidewalks and maintain cleanliness.
• Remove litter from planters, tree pits, and stairwells.
• Ensure bus shelters are clean and free of litter.
• Empty and maintain trash receptacles throughout the area.
• Engage with local businesses and employees to address concerns and promote cleanliness.
• Assist with event preparation and cleanup.
• Provide Human Services outreach to those in need within the community.
• Complete weekly activity reports using Microsoft.
• Attend community meetings as requested by the supervisor.
• Collaborate on problem-solving when issues arise.
• Regularly assess city property (e.g., streetlights, trash cans) to ensure they are operational.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
