Job summary

Episcopal Retirement Services at Deupree House is seeking a Dishwasher to support daily kitchen operations and resident meals. You will ensure dishes and utensils are cleaned, organized, and ready for use, while maintaining a clean breakroom and assisting with meal delivery to units.

Qualifications

• Possesses, at a minimum, an 8th grade education.
• Is at least sixteen years of age.
• Can read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Able to move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Able to work independently with flexibility and integrity, and with others.
• Willing to work beyond normal hours and in other positions when needed.
• Promotes resident safety.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, stores and arranges dishes, utensils and kitchen items for use.
• Sets up the team member breakroom with ice and condiments for coffee.
• Delivers meal carts and hot meal boxes to units as directed.
• Empties and cleans the dish machine between meals and cleans its exterior.
• Breaks down boxes and disposes of trash at the dumpster.
• Sweeps and mops the kitchen floor.
• Follows safety regulations and reports accidents or hazards immediately.
• Performs stock room duties and reports damaged items to the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Possesses, at a minimum, an 8th grade education.
• Is, at a minimum, sixteen (16) years of age.
• Is able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language and follow written/oral instructions.
• Possesses sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
• Moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Able and willing to work independently with flexibility and integrity, as well as effectively and harmoniously with team members, residents, family members, volunteers, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Is able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the community.
• Is willing to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
• Promotes resident safety.

As a Dishwasher you can expect to:

• Ensures that all dishes, cooking utensils and other items from the kitchen and dining area are cleaned, stored in the appropriate locations, and ready to be utilized when needed.
• Sets up the team member breakroom with ice and condiments for coffee.
• Delivers meal carts and hot meal boxes to the units, as directed.
• Empties and cleans the dish machine between meals, making sure there is no food in the machine, including cleaning the outside of the machine.
• Breaks down boxes and takes out the trash to the dumpster.
• Sweeps and mops the kitchen floor.
• Assures that safety regulations are followed and reports any accidents, hazardous equipment, or conditions immediately.
• Performs stock room functions including checking stock to ensure all items are accounted for and undamaged; notifying the supervisor if there are damaged items that need to be returned; putting stock away in the appropriate place; and cleaning duties.
