Job summary

College of Southern Nevada, Disability Resource Center/Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services at the West Charleston Campus, seeks part-time Accommodation Service Providers to assist classes with students who have documented disabilities.

Role includes taking notes, reading materials aloud, transcribing, assisting with adaptive technology, and proctoring exams under instructor guidance, ensuring privacy and FERPA/ADA adherence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, or equivalent, preferably with a minimum of one-year post-secondary educational experience.
• Understanding of the sensitivities related to communicating with students who have disabilities.
• Ability to take thorough and organized notes using available technology.
• Legible handwriting, accurate spelling, grammar, and proficiency in computer use.
• Good organizational skills and strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and in multi-ethnic settings.

Responsibilities

• Take notes in class, on-site or virtually, for students with documented disabilities.
• Read printed material, assignments, or tests aloud for students with visual impairments.
• Scribe or transcribe for mobility-impaired students when needed.
• Assist students with visual impairments as a reader or by providing notes electronically.
• Proctor exams in compliance with approved accommodations and testing procedures.
