Job summary

March-Inc is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Vernon, CT (15 hrs/wk). The DSP provides individualized support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, works with minimal supervision within a team, and assists with daily living activities while maintaining safety and professionalism.

The role involves meal planning, medication administration, transportation, documentation, and coordination with families and clinicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current driver's license required.
• At least one year experience preferred.
• Basic computer literacy and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily instruction and assistance per individual needs.
• Meal planning and preparation.
• Leisure time planning and development of hobbies.
• Medication administration.
• Transportation.
• Home maintenance.
• Personal hygiene.
• Personal appointments, medical appointments, and social commitments.
• Complete all necessary documentation during shift.
• Maintain records of care and report observations.
• Ensure confidentiality of individuals and the agency.
• Accompany individuals to doctors’ offices and other trips.
• Manage and record petty cash and funds.
• Work cooperatively with staff and providers.
• Read daily communications and report problems.
• Meet certifications and training requirements.
• Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures.
• Attend required staff meetings.
• Provide emergency coverage as needed.
• Perform other related duties.
