Job summary

MARCH, Inc. in Vernon, CT is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide individualized support for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The DSP will work with or without supervision, contribute to a team, and handle crises calmly in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include daily support activities, meal planning, transportation, medication administration, and record-keeping. A valid driver’s license and a high school diploma or equivalent are required.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service orientation.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.
• Understanding of basic personal care, housekeeping, and caregiving concepts.
• Intermediate technology and computer ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily instruction and assistance according to each person’s individual needs.
• Meal planning and preparation and dietary guidelines adherence.
• Supervise leisure activities and develop hobbies.
• Assist with transportation, medications, and appointments as needed.
• Complete required documentation during shifts (behavior plans, goals, logs, incident reports).
• Maintain records of care and progress for reporting to supervisor and clinical team.
• Ensure confidentiality of individuals supported and the agency.
