Job summary

Lehigh Valley Companion Care Homes seeks compassionate Direct Support Professionals to provide care for individuals with IDD in our Whitehall homes. Part-time role, Monday & Thursday 7-3pm, with paid training and growth opportunities.

You will assist with personal care, support independence, and help maintain a safe, respectful living environment, while documenting care and participating in community activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (relevant certifications are a plus).
• Previous experience in direct care is preferred but not required training is provided.
• Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to care.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical stamina and ability to assist with transfers and other care needs.
• Paid training and opportunities for professional development.

• Flexible scheduling options after completing three weeks of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Administer medications and document accurately following prescribed schedules.
• Provide emotional support and foster positive relationships with our individuals.
• Facilitate and engage in recreational and community activities with the individuals.
• Observe and monitor residents’ health conditions and report any concerns.
• Implement individualized care plans and behavior support strategies.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment.
• Complete and maintain accurate documentation and records of care.
