Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to empower individuals with IDD by assisting with everyday living tasks and helping them reach their goals. The role is part-time with afternoon/after-school shifts in Zebulon, NC and nearby areas, including local travel.

Responsibilities include home and community-based care, daily tasks support, transportation to appointments, schedule planning, and precise documentation in an electronic health record system.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role with on-the-job training provided.
• Education requirement: high school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of basic housekeeping, basic nutrition and safety protocols.
• Skills include interpersonal communication, attention to detail and dependability.
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or ability to learn.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and in the surrounding community.
• Assist with daily tasks such as housekeeping, meal prep, cooking, cleaning; personal care including bathing, dressing, toileting and hygiene; and employment support.
• Transport the client to appointments and run errands as needed.
• Help plan and organize the individual’s schedule and activities.
• Document daily interactions and care in the electronic health record system.
