Job summary

Bond Health in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) for a part-time role supporting individuals with ID/DD in the community.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring safety while upholding privacy and dignity in alignment with OPWDD guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and experience working with individuals with ID/DD.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Flexibility in scheduled work hours as needed.
• Eager to learn and develop professional skills in the field.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people and be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals receiving services in leading self-directed lives and participating fully in their local communities.
• Support the emotional, physical, and personal well-being of individuals while remaining attentive and energetic in reducing risk of harm.
• Respect confidentiality and privacy in accordance with state and agency regulations.
• Promote the human and civil rights of individuals receiving services and help them understand their rights and responsibilities.
• Promote advocacy, inclusion, and community participation; communicate in age- and developmentally appropriate ways.
• Ensure services are delivered per OPWDD, State and Federal regulations and agency guidelines.
• Identify, intervene, and report suspected neglect or abuse; participate in investigations as needed.
• Be knowledgeable of each individual's Habilitation Plan and goals; implement plans and document progress.
• Provide a therapeutic and professional environment; maintain professional behavior and presentation.
• Maintain communication with family members and service coordinators as directed by the Program Supervisor.
• Provide the appropriate level of support and supervision while engaging individuals in programs and community activities.
• Assist with activities of daily living as needed (eating, toileting, dressing, personal hygiene, grooming).
• Participate in meetings and trainings; travel with individuals to activities using public transportation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
