Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living at South Boston is seeking a Dining Services Associate to assist the Dining Services Director in delivering the signature dining program for residents. You will provide friendly, attentive service and help create a warm, homelike dining experience.

This role emphasizes safety, sanitation, and teamwork, with responsibilities including meal prep, serving, and maintaining HACCP standards. Located at our Christiansburg, VA community, weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Certification in the Food Handlers Course or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a food service environment.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Willingness to learn new tasks and adapt to duties.
• Availability to work varied shifts and weekends.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods.
• Must be free of communicable diseases.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals to residents in a safe sanitary manner.
• Be familiar with HACCP and WHMIS guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and proper cleaning practices.
• Serve meals in a pleasant, respectful manner, mindful of residents' needs.
• Operate and clean equipment; follow cleaning schedules.
• Prepare dining rooms daily: set tables, pour beverages, clear dishes.
• Receive stock and store properly.
• Follow procedures when mechanical equipment is not available.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Dining Services Director.
• Other duties as assigned.
