Job summary

The Suffield House Rehabilitation and Health Care Center is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to join its dietary services team. The role includes 16-24 hours per week with additional per diem shifts, primarily 7am-3pm and 4pm-8pm, and a weekend shift differential of $1.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Interest in the dietary needs of the aged and the chronically ill with the ability to work with the elderly.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Fluent knowledge of the MSOffice Suite and other office equipment.
• Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position assignment.

Responsibilities

• Works with dietician and Food Service Manager to ensure that production sheets and menus are consistent.
• Understands and complies with posted work schedules.
• Performs food preparation, portions, and service according to menu and prescribed therapeutic diets.
• Assists with preparation and production of vending par levels (entrees, snacks, beverages, and desserts).
• Prepares and delivers nourishments at appropriate times according to procedure in a safe and sanitary manner.
• Sets up trays and/or place settings according to prescribed therapeutic diets according to procedure.
• Assists with meal setup at mealtime according to the diet card, considering therapeutic diets and resident needs.
• Stores all food items and supplies according to procedure including the storage of chemicals.
• Stocks all needed items in appropriate quantities for the Dietary Department.
• Prepares, washes, sanitizes, and properly handles dishes and utensils or pots and pans.
• Operates, cleans, and sanitizes equipment or carts in a safe manner.
• Cleans the food service area and maintains a neat, clean environment.
• Performs other related duties as directed by Supervisor / Administrator and/or Director.
