Job summary

Discovery Behavioral Health in Chicago, IL is seeking a part-time Diet Technician to assist patients throughout their treatment—from admission to discharge. You will support the dietary program, prepare meals, maintain a clean kitchen, and help ensure patient safety in the milieu.

The role requires one year of education or experience in dietary or nutrition sciences, CPI, CPR/AED/First Aid, and ServSafe certifications within 90 days, plus a valid driver’s license. Schedule is 11:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• One year of education or experience in dietary or nutrition sciences.
• CPI, CPR/AED/First Aid, and ServSafe certifications within 90 days of hire.
• State food handler's permit and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assists with admissions process and supports new patients in the program.
• Provides milieu management throughout the treatment experience and communicates with all team members.
• Assists in grocery shopping for the program and ensures the kitchen is stocked with a variety of foods.
• Complies with sanitation requirements per health department and Joint Commission standards.
• Prepares meals on shift, as assigned.
• Monitors patient consumption and ensures accurate portions.
• Facilitates kitchen exposure with patients and participates in dietary activities as directed by the dietitian.
• Completes shift notes and other documentation by end of shift.
• Assists with discharge process and provides supervision during meals.

Education

Dietary or nutrition sciences

CPI certification within 90 days

CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within 90 days

ServSafe certification within 90 days

State required food handler's permit
