Job summary

Discovery Behavioral Health in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Diet Technician to support patients from admission through discharge, handling dietary needs, meal preparation, and safe kitchen operations.

This on-site role in Century City will require CPI, CPR/AED, First Aid, and ServSafe certifications within 90 days, along with state food handler permits. You will assist with calorie counts, portion control, documentation, and collaboration with the dietitian.

Qualifications

• One year of education or experience in dietary or nutrition sciences.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire.
• ServSafe certification within 90 days of hire.
• State required food handler's permit within 90 days of hire.
• Must possess a current Driver's License and be in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Assists with admissions process and supports new patients in the program.
• Provides milieu management throughout the treatment experience and communicates with all team members.
• Assists in grocery shopping for the program and ensures the kitchen is stocked with a variety of foods.
• Complies with sanitation requirements per health regulations and Joint Commission standards.
• Prepares meals on shift, as assigned.
• Monitors patient consumption and portion sizes.
• Facilitates kitchen exposure with patients as directed by the dietitian.
• Performs weekly patient calorie counts as requested by the dietitian.
• Completes shift notes and documentation by end of shift.
• Supports discharge process and patient supervision during meals.

Education

Dietary or nutrition sciences education/experience

CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire

ServSafe certification within 90 days of hire

State food handler's permit

Driver's license in good standing
