Job description

Position

Transdev is hiring a Part Time Diesel Mechanic to serve Arlington Transit. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines on various vehicles and equipment to ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity.

Compensation
  • A Tech: $41.00‑45.20 / hr
  • B Tech: $33.00‑36.38 / hr
  • C Tech: $31.00‑34.18 / hr

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on diesel engines.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs.
  • Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
  • Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and develop comprehensive repair strategies.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • ASE certifications required; certification program provided.
  • Mechanic’s Tool Set.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.
Physical Requirements
  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; 100% of the job is performed outside, often alone and in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances on uneven or slippery surfaces.
  • Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds; lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access equipment stored at ground level.
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
