Job summary

RESPITE CARE OF SAN ANTONIO is seeking a Child Development Lead Teacher to manage a classroom for children from 6 weeks to 5 years. You will plan and implement the curriculum, lead activities, and supervise staff to ensure a safe, engaging learning environment.

The role emphasizes developmentally appropriate activities, positive guidance, and partnering with families to support children with special needs, while ensuring health and safety at all times.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning and supervising developmentally appropriate activities.
• Ability to engage children in learning through play and curriculum activities.
• Ability to modify activities for children with disabilities to ensure participation.
• Use positive reinforcement and describe language to guide behavior.
• Ability to communicate with diverse families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and supervise developmentally appropriate activities following the daily schedule.
• Actively engage children in all domains of development.
• Support development of alphabet, numbers, colors, sounds and daily living skills.
• Modify activities for children with disabilities to ensure full participation.
• Use behavior management techniques and positive language to guide children.
• Communicate with diverse families, guardians, staff and community partners.
• Maintain supervision and safety of the class at all times.
• Demonstrate professionalism and kindness toward children and families.
• Assist in coordinating quality programs like Texas School Ready and NAEYC.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
