Part-Time Development Coordinator

Job Description

Primary Location: Temple University Center City, 1515 Market Street #300, Philadelphia, PA

Mission: The Pennsylvania Innocence Project is a non-profit, public interest law firm. Our mission is to exonerate those convicted of crimes they did not commit, to prevent innocent people from being prosecuted and convicted, and to help those wrongfully convicted transition to freedom.

Position Summary: The Development Coordinator is responsible for the Project’s donor database, many donor communications, mailing list coordination, and some reporting functions. The Development Coordinator will assist the Development and Communications team in donation processing; donor acquisition, retention, and cultivation; and logistical coordination for fund- and awareness-raising events throughout the year. The Development Coordinator may also assist in researching and preparing proposals for corporate and foundation prospects.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Database Maintenance: The Development Coordinator will anchor the work of donor engagement by identifying donor prospects, managing donor and donation records, producing reports on our communities and supports, and performing some basic analysis of those reports. They will coordinate mailing lists and list segmentation in support of digital and print communications as well as event planning activities. They will be responsible for accurate notes on donor engagement and improvements to our donor database and use of related software. The Development Coordinator will work primarily with the Director of Development and the Communications and Development Associate to support collection of metrics, preparation of reports, development of donor communications timelines, and donor engagement. Organizational and record-keeping skills are critical, with direct experience in donor database management strongly preferred.
  • Events Support: The Development Coordinator will assist in event communications, sponsor and supporter engagement, and logistical coordination for multiple fund- and awareness-raising events including our annual celebration in Philadelphia every spring. They will play an important role in sponsor solicitation, invitations, and follow up, including assistance in the identification of new potential event sponsors. They will develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with event sponsors, partner organizations, and vendors, during event seasons and throughout the year
  • Other Development and Communications Support: The Development Coordinator may respond to inquiries from donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders as needed. They may support coordination efforts with Board members and other stakeholders on fundraising- and communications-related projects. They may assist in donor acknowledgement, prospect research, and grant proposal development in cooperation with the Director of Development and Executive Director in efforts to expand corporate and foundation support. Other projects may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, enjoy working in a fast-paced and collegial non-profit environment, and have a dedication to social justice.
  • Minimum 1 year of nonprofit experience required. At least 1 year of fundraising experience and training with donor tracking software or a CRM preferred. The main platforms used by the Project include Donor Perfect and Constant Contact.
  • While we welcome candidates who have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution, it is not a requirement.
  • This position is based in our Philadelphia office. A hybrid work arrangement including some remote work may be arranged in accordance with our current personnel policy. We do not anticipate that any travel will be required.
