Job summary

Coastal Carolina University is seeking a part-time Teaching Associate of Dance in the Department of Theatre. The position may start August 16, 2026 or January 4, 2027 and involves teaching undergraduate dance courses on a semester‑by‑semester basis.

Successful candidates will have graduate coursework in Dance and relevant teaching or professional experience, with a commitment to mentorship and inclusive learning environments supporting students from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 18 graduate credit hours in Dance or a closely related discipline.
• Master’s degree, MFA, or other appropriate graduate degree in Dance, Choreography, Performance, or a related field is preferred.
• Successful college-level teaching experience and/or substantial professional experience in dance performance, choreography, movement direction, or dance education.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, student mentorship, and inclusive learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate dance courses on a semester-by-semester basis as an adjunct faculty member.
• Possibly teach one or more courses in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Musical Theatre Dance, Choreography, Movement, Dance Appreciation, or Dance History.
• Contribute to an inclusive learning environment and support students from diverse backgrounds.
