Qualifications

• Completed at least 18 graduate credit hours in Dance or a closely related discipline.
• Master’s degree, MFA, or other appropriate graduate degree in Dance, Choreography, Performance, or a related field is preferred.
• Successful college-level teaching experience and/or substantial professional experience in dance performance, choreography, movement direction, or dance education.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, student mentorship, and inclusive learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate dance courses on a semester-by-semester basis as an adjunct faculty member.
• Possibly teach one or more courses in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Musical Theatre Dance, Choreography, Movement, Dance Appreciation, or Dance History.
• Contribute to an inclusive learning environment and support students from diverse backgrounds.

The Department of Theatre at Coastal Carolina University, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST), invites applications for part-time employment as a Teaching associate of dance. The position has a potential start date of August 16 2026 or January 4 2027.

This highly collaborative department maintains an ambitious production season, including new works and staged readings, and encourages student connections with working professionals. Faculty maintain active professional careers and students participate in showcases and study abroad with Theatre Academy London.

Responsibilities

Coastal Carolina University seeks adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate dance courses on a semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon departmental needs. Successful candidates may be assigned one or more courses in the following areas, among others:

• Ballet
• Modern
• Jazz
• Tap
• Contemporary
• Musical Theatre Dance
• Choreography
• Movement
• Dance Appreciation
• Dance History
• Other specialized areas consistent with the candidate’s training and experience
